Ralathor, knowing that he would be vaporized instantly should he have revealed this information to anyone, so he traveled through a rift in spacetime to the past, to the Prime Universe declaring to other heroes "You must complete this quest without me, I have a much more important mission to undertake!" taking the knowledge of the sword to the past.[1]

Ambiguous Origins of Ralathor Finally Revealed[]

As confirmed by Chris Bowes in a reddit post, there is no Ralathor in the Prime Universe, Ralathor Prime as we know him comes from the Terrorvortex, and the Ralathor we see in The Epic Rage of Furious Thunder is Ralathor 38B, who narrowly avoided being obliterated from existence by the starlords due to him escaping to a nearby timeline.

The "Secret to Betray" was of course, knowledge of the path through the dwarven caverns, which Ralathor-38B learned from the Sword Lord of the Goblin Horde, and he was supposed to take it to his grave, but because he was in another dimension, he was able to guide Angus without being vaporized.

These two Ralathors were seemingly aware of each other, as they knew that one of them had to be vaporized to preserve the prime timeline; Ralathor-38B agreed to be the one to get vaporized. It is as of yet unknown why Ralathor-38B needed to be vaporized to preserve continuity.

Trivia[]

  • In a 2013 interview, it was stated that Ralathor "was once in the service of the sorcerer Zargothrax", explaining how he knew the way into the citadel through the tunnels.[2] This explanation has since been retconned by the official timeline.
  • Ralathor's name was originally just a placeholder name before a majority of lyrics and plot was layed out. It stuck.[3]
