The Knights of Crail, or Templar Knights of Crail[1], were a mystic order of knights based in Crail, Fife. They were founded by Prolon I in 450 AD. They were known for riding on eagles and having never lost a fight until their defeat in 1992 AD against the Chaos Wizards on Triton.
History[]
Early History[]
In 450 AD Prolon I founded the Order of the Knights of Crail.
Relocation to Triton[]
In 1688 AD the Knights of Crail relocated to a hidden base on Triton, and became the Spaceknights of Crail. On Triton, they watched over Zargothrax in his frozen prison of liquid ice.
Defeat[]
In 1992, a cult of Chaos Wizards destroyed the base and defeated the Spaceknights of Crail, freeing Zargothrax.[2][3] This was the first time the Spaceknights had been defeated. The only survivor was Ser Regulon, who, with help from the Technomages of Triton, reanimated Ser Proletius as a hologram, to once again lead the Spaceknights as their Grand Master.[4]
Notable Characters[]
Ser Proletius[]
Ser Proletius was the Grand Master at the time of the Battle for Dunfermline, where he led the Knights of Crail to victory, aiding Angus McFife I in defeating Zargothrax and liberating Dundee.[5]
Later, he returned as a hologram after the Spaceknights were defeated on Triton.[4]
Ser Regulon[]
Ser Regulon was the sole survivor of the destruction of the Spaceknights' base on Triton. It was he who found a way to return the legion to its heyday splendour by turning Ser Proletius into a hologram.[4]
Prolon 1[]
Prolon I was a hero and a mighty warrior who founded the great city of Crail, and the first Grandmaster of the Templar Knights of Crail.[6]
Notable Engagements[]
The Battle of Cowdenbeath[]
In the Battle of Cowdenbeath, the steel of the Templar Knights of Crail allowed truth and justice to prevail.[7]
The Siege of Dunkeld (Prime Universe)[]
During the Siege of Dunkeld, the Knights arrived just in time to stop the town falling. Such was their victory, that none of their foes survived.[7]
The Battle of Dunfermline[]
While Angus McFife I fought Zargothrax in his citadel in 992 AD, the Knights of Crail helped by destroying evil in the lands north of the Firth of Forth.[5]
The Attack on Triton[]
In 1992 A.D. the Chaos Wizards destroyed the Spaceknights' hidden base on Triton, freeing Zargothrax from his cryogenic prison.[2][3][4]
The Battle of Mars[]
In 1992 A.D. the Space Knights lead by the revived Grandmaster Proletius lead the defences of Phobos, they were all defeated.[citation needed]
The Siege of Dunkeld (Terrorvortex)[]
The Deathknights of Crail were the primary force besieging the town, Angus McFife XIII was unable to assist the town and watched the citizens be slaughtered despite their battle-prayers to the Hootsman.[citation needed]
The Deathknights of Crail[]
The Deathknights of Crail are the Terrorvortex version of the The Knights Of Crail.
Their veins all flow with Anti-Telharsic power, as they have been corrupted by the knife of evil. Due to this they consider themselves on an eternal quest to spread evil across the galaxy. Their power is equal to, or perhaps even greater than the original Knights Of Crail.
Unlike The Knights of Crail which defended the city of Dunkeld when it was under siege the Deathknights instead choose to attack it, brutally slaughtering warriors of justice and innocent civilians alike. They are among the first characters Angus sees when he arrives beyond the Terrorvortex.
Grandmaster of Death and Decay[]
The Proletius of the terrorvortex universe was stabbed by the Knife of Evil and turned into the Grandmaster of Death and Decay. He is considered the mightiest scion of evil. Corrupted by darkness he slaughters indiscriminately, Anti-Telharsic pulsing through his veins and forcing him to act against his true nature.
He obeys orders only from Zargothrax, slaughtering when told to. Like all other Deathknights, Proletius is on an eternal quest to kill all that would oppose the forces of evil.
